Entries available for richer World 100

Zach Yost

Eldora Speedway has posted the entry form for next month’s 53rd annual World 100, which boasts a race-record main event purse of $256,700 that’s up $25,300 from last year’s 100-lapper at the historic Tony Stewart-promoted oval in Rossburg, Ohio.

The prestigious World 100 caps three nights of action at Eldora from Sept. 7-9 that includes twin 25-lap, $12,000-to-win preliminary features on Thursday and Friday preceding Saturday’s weekend finale offering a $56,000 first-place prize and $5,300 for starting the race. The total purse for the weekend sits at $567,900.

Other notable World 100 details released include:

• The pit area will be opened on Wednesday evening as an optional hauler parking period for any team already on the grounds. DIRTcar officials will also hold an optional tech inspection period for all cars in the infield on Wednesday evening.

• The Shane Unger Memorial Rookie Award program has been expanded to $8,000 over the course of the three day World 100, including a $2,500 bonus to the highest-finishing rookie in the World 100. In addition, bonuses totaling $10,000 will be divided among the top points-earners in the weekend’s pair of preliminary programs.

• A 25th starting spot in each of Saturday night’s two B-main has been made available. Following heat race action on Saturday (and after the traditional high-point provisionals are awarded for the World 100), the next two highest point drivers left in the prelim points standings who finish 12th-or-worse in their heat race will have the option to start at the tail of a B-main.

• Signal sticks will not be permitted, but hand signals by crew members will be allowed.

Eldora, in consultation with Hoosier Tire and DIRTcar Racing officials, also announced a tire rule for the weekend designed “to reduce compound options when sensible but still provide tire choices for the race teams to enhance the on-track product throughout the weekend.” The preliminary programs will require NLMT 2 tires on the right-front and left-rear with a 2- or 3-compound option for the right-rear, while Saturday’s World 100 will permit the 2- or 3-compound tires on the right-front and left-rear and 2-, 3- or 4-compound tires on the right-rear.

Teams can save $185 by entering by Sept. 5. For more information, visit eldoraspeedway.com.

All three days of Eldora action will be streamed live at FloRacing.
