Ron Jenkins Memorial more lucrative
Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association competitors will chase a more lucrative winner’s purse for Sept. 1-2’s Ron Jenkins Memorial presented by Rugged Radios that’s part of the Missouri-based tour’s Labor Day weekend action.
The doubleheader at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., originally announced as $5,000- and $7,000-to-win events, will pay $11,000-to-win for the finale thanks to a bigger purse and an additional $1,000 for the winner’s share from Mary Jenkins Holt in memory of Ron Jenkins. MLRA also announced fast-time bonuses for the weekend of $500 for the finale in Wheatland and $1,000 for Sept. 3’s Weiner Nationals at Moberly (Mo.) Motorsports Park.
Among other changes for upcoming Late Model events:
Potomac: The Super Late Model purse for Sept. 3’s Three Mules Welding Supply Night at Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md., has been raised to $4,000-to-win (up from $3,000).
Gondik Law: USRA-sanctioned Limited Late Models have been added to Sept. 2’s portion of the Northern Nationals at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. WISSOTA Late Models are also on the five-division card.
Rome: The Red Clay Series has added a new season finale for Oct. 7 at Rome (Ga.) Speedway, a $5,000-to-win program for the 602 Crate Late Model tour.
Travelers Rest: The Mid-East 602 Late Model Series cancelled Sept. 1's stop at Travelers Rest (S.C.) Speedway.
Buckshot: Sept. 2's United Championship Racing Alliance event at Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Ala., was cancelled.
