Talladega's Bama Bash reduced to one day
Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and Talladega Short Track officials announced Wednesday that this weekend’s Bama Bash has been reduced to a one-day show, to be contested Saturday, because of expected rain and an unfavorable weather forecast.
Originally slated as a three-day event, Thursday’s open practice session and Friday’s $5,000-to-win opener were both cancelled to allow the Eastaboga, Ala.‘s grounds additional time to absorb the incoming wet weather.
Saturday’s gate opening times will be announced that morning — giving officials additional time to survey the track and pit area conditions — while the drivers’ meeting is still set for 5:30 p.m. and hot laps at 6.
Crate Racin’ USA Late Models are on the undercard competing for a $2,000 winner’s prize, along with CRUSA modifieds ($1,000-to-win) and hot shots ($750-to-win).
Friday’s $2,000-to-win inaugural Crate Racin’ USA 602 Sportsman Series event has also been scrapped and the newly-formed tour will officially begin with Saturday's $3,000-to-win opener at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscubmia, Ala.
