MLRA's Iowa weekend washed out
Officials at West Burlington, Iowa's 34 Raceway announced April 19-20's Lucas Oil MLRA-sanctioned Slocum 50 doubleheader weekend has been postponed due to poor weather. Track officials said Friday's $5,000-to-win opener has been cancelled while they intend on rescheduling Saturday's 16th annual Slocum 50 offering $10,555-to-win though a makeup date wasn't announced.
MLRA Series officials later annouced Thursday's $5,000-to-win Hawkeye Land 40 weekend opener at Tipton, Iowa's Cedar County Raceway was also rained out and reset for Thursday, Sept. 12; it will, again, kickoff a Hawkeye state tripleheader weekend.
Other rainouts, postponements, cancellations and schedule changes for Dirt Late Model special and sanctioned events April 18-20:
Lancaster: The South Carolina track's Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Model Series event was rained out; a new date is being discussed.
Boothill: Saturday's second-ever event for the fledgling Gulf South Crate Racing Association was rained out; series and Boothill Speedway track officials have yet to announce a makeup date.
Whynot: Saturday's Mississippi Crate Late Model Racing Series action — featuring two features including the makeup Battle of the States — was rained out; details on a new date for the held-over race will be announced.
Beckley: Saturday's Red Clay Series event was been removed from the track's program in a change because of the weather. A $5,000-to-win Super Late Model event remains on the card.
Hamilton County: Webster City, Iowa's Hamilton County Speedway cancelled Saturday's $3,000-to-win Malvern Bank East Series season opener because of cold and wet weather; the race has been rescheduled for Aug. 24 and will now be co-sanctioned with the Malvern Bank West Series.
Mason City: Malvern Bank East Series and Mason City (Iowa) Motor Speedway track officials have cancelled Sunday's $3,000-to-win event because of rain and cold temperatures; the race has been rescheduled for Aug. 25 and will now be co-sanctioned with the Malvern Bank West Series.
Greenville: Southern All Star Racing Series officials cancelled Saturday's $5,000-to-win stop at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway because of an unfavorable weather forecast; no makeup date was announced.
Caney Valley: Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan., cancelled Saturday's $4,000-to-win inaugural event for the Revival Late Model Series because of unfavorable conditions; no makeup date was announced.
