$300,000 purse for Volunteer anniversary
Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., has announced more details for its Volunteer 50, the June 27-29 weekend celebrating the 4/10-mile oval's 50th anniversary that's highlighted by a $50,050-to-win Super Late Model event.
The three-day weekend carries a purse exceeding $300,000 with second through fifth in the Super Late Model main event receiving $25,000, $15,000, $12,000 and $10,000 from a purse that pays $5,000 for 10th and $2,000-to-start.
Super Late Models will practice June 27 with split-field $5,000-to-win semifeatures set for June 28 that locks 16 cars (eight from each semifeature) into June 29's finale. Consolation races will complete the starting field for the division that will run under standard national touring rules.
Also in action are street stocks on opening night with a complete $5,050-to-win main event. Crate Late Models practice on opening night, run a $1,500-to-win preliminary on June 28 (locking the top 16 finishers into the finale) and a $8,050-to-win finale on June 29.
