Owner says Cochran, Ga., oval for sale
Cochran Motor Speedway, a 3/8-mile oval on a nearly 60-acre facility in central Georgia, is for sale, 10-year track owner Chris Martin announced today.
Along with the racetrack and fifth-mile gokart track, the listing includes heavy equipment for track preparation, various vehicles and four fully-equipped concession stands. No price was revealed.
"It has been a blessing and a curse owning this track,” said Martin, whose son Parker Martin is a Super Late Model competitor. "There have been some great moments and then there have been some times where I wondered why I opened the gates. It is not a business for the faint of heart.
"The track needs someone who can dedicate more time to operating, promoting, maintaining and developing the business. The right person could really make this place go.”
The track is scheduled to host the Southern All Star Racing Series on June 2 along with three Crate Racin’ USA touring events, among other races. Martin isn’t sure scheduled races will be run.
