Southern Thunder sets 22-race schedule
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 12) — The first-year Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series today released its inaugural schedule with 22 races among 12 tracks in Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama with plans to add a handful of other races, including at two Mississippi tracks. | 2025 Southern Thunder schedule
The first-year tour, created by an ownership group led by Aiken, S.C.'s Travis Scott with veteran series official Kelley Carlton serving as general manager, plans a series-high five races apiece at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., and Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga., which opens the closes the series with Feb. 7-8’s Winter Freeze and a Nov. 22-23 weekend. The schedule was released on the opening day of the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show.
Along with Screven, two-race, same-track weekends are scheduled for Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway for Feb. 21-22’s Tuckassee Toilet Bowl Classic and Talladega for Oct. 16-17’s Red Farmer Tribute.
Also on the schedule are Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway, Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga., Senoia (Ga.) Raceway, Penton (Ala.) Raceway, Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway, Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway, Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn., Crossville (Tenn.) Raceway and North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Ga.
The series plans to add up to six more races, including Mississippi events at Columbus’s Magnolia Motor Speedway and Meridian’s Whynot Motorsports Park. More details will be announced for the series which initially announced plans for a points fund of $30,000.
