Tyler Bruening celebrates his $5,300 victory atop his race car.
What won the race: Tyler Bruening of Decorah, Iowa, repeated his Prelude to the Silver Dollar Nationals victory at I-80 Speedway on Wednesday, leading all but two laps for a $5,000 payday. He took the checkers ahead of Tad Pospisil in the Malvern Bank-Hoker Trucking Series event.
Quotable: "I think we're perfect here with this car so far," Bruening said "We've really got a good setup to go off of."
Key notes: Ben Schaller led two laps but retired a lap later after his car dumped fluids on the track. ... Bill Leighton Jr. hit the backstretch wall on the fifth lap while battling Tad Pospisil for second; nosepiece damage forced Leighton to pit before rejoining at the tail; Leighton's race ended for good when he tangled with Zach Zeitner exiting turn four, drawing a lap-23 red flag for the cleanup of the connected cars. ... Jason O'Brien and Kyle Berck tangled on lap 26. ... Corey Zeitner lost a left-rear wheel on a lap-26 restart. ... Brian Kosiski's race ended against the backstretch wall. ... Charlie McKenna had a similar fate. ...The midweek event combined sister tours — the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series and Hoker Trucking Series — to open the four-race Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals weekend.
On the move: Andrew Kosiski of Omaha, Neb., started 20th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Bruening's Skyline Motorsports Capital Race Car is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Bennett Explosives, Skyline Materials, Lucas Oil Products, Bruening Rock Products, Truck Country, Super K Express and Hoosier Racing Tire.
Points chase: Entering the event, Tad Pospisil of Norfolk, Neb., led Hoker Trucking points and Bill Leighton Jr. of LaVista, Neb., led Malvern Bank points.
