What won the race: Pole-starting Dakota Berry of Grand Junction, Colo., raced to victory in Saturday's opening round of the WaKeeney Showdown at WaKeeney Speedway on the High Plains Late Model Series.
Key notes: Berry scored his sixth career High Plains victory. ... WaKeeney hosted its first Late Model touring event since July 18, 2004, when Steve Kosiski of Omaha, Neb., raced to victory on the O'Reilly Auto Parts Topless Outlaw Racing Association. ...
