What won the race: Fresh off his career-best $10,000 victory in 604 Crate Late Model action at 411 Motor Speedway on June 26, polesitter Cameron Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., led all 40 laps of Friday's J. Paul Smith Memorial for a $3,000 American All-Star Series presented by PPM triumph at Crossville Speedway.
Key notes: The 23-year-old driver's first All-Star Series triumph of 2021 came on the same night that his father, veteran Randy Weaver, won a Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series feature at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. ... The circuit's holiday weekend doubleheader continues with a $10,000-to-win feature at Mountain Motorsports Park in Isom, Ky., on Saturday. … The weekend was originally planned as a tripleheader with a $5,000-to-win show at West Virginia Motor Speedway set to close out the action on Sunday, but the track recently shifted the event to Aug. 6 and switched it to an unsanctioned Super Late Model race.
On the move: Josh Henry of Newport, Tenn., started 14th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Weaver’s CVR Race Car has a Crate engine by Phantom and carries sponsorship from B&M Concrete, Weaver Properties, Wynn Land Development, Henderson Motorsports, Rayce Technologies, Schaeffers, A.F. Stone, PPM and Martel Sign Company.
