What won the race: Jeremy Wonderling of Wellsville, N.Y., assumed command on the sixth circuit and never looked back en route to capturing Saturday night's 30-lap Pace Performance RUSH Racing Series feature at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. He beat Kyle Hardy, the Crate Late Model tour's winningest driver this season, to the finish line by 2.616 seconds.
Quotable: "This means a ton. This is one of the biggest tracks that's been on my bucket list to win at besides Lernerville. I've been so close here. One night I was leading by a straightaway and the motor blows," Wonderling said. "I was trying to hit my marks, but some of the lapped cars screwed me up a bit. You're racing against (Kyle) Hardy and the track regulars are really, really good here, so it's tough to come down here a few times a year and beat them."
Key notes: Wonderling moved into the lead on lap six with the departure of Michael Norris, who started from the pole position and led laps 1-5 driving his brother-in-law's Crate Late Model. ... The $2,000 victory was Wonderling's third in nine RUSH tour events in 2021; his previous checkered flags came in his home state of New York on May 15 at Stateline Speedway and May 29 at Genesee. ... Stephens City, Va.'s Hardy, who won Friday’s RUSH stop at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, Pa., chased Wonderling for the final 18 laps but couldn't mount a serious challenge. ... Cautions plagued the first half of the feature, which stretched over 50 minutes in length.
Winner's sponsors: Wonderling’s No. 3J is sponsored by Terry Prince Contracting. Close Racing Supply, Performance Bodies, The Store, Winters Performance, Beyea Headers, Swift Springs, Penske Shocks and Hoosier Tire.
Points chase: Hardy led the way entering the weekend with 680 points. Jeremy Wonderling was second with 631 points, and Joe Martin had 627 points in third.
