Josh Rice heads to yet another 2021 victory at Florence Speedway.
What won the race: Outrunning fellow front-row starter Bobby Pierce and lingering rain, polesitter Josh Rice of Verona, Ky., stormed to the $5,000 victory in Saturday’s Fall 50 at Florence Speedway. Rice pulled away from Pierce after a caution with one circuit remaining to capture his seventh special event win of the season at the half-mile oval.
Key notes: Pierce, who led the opening 23 circuits until Rice regained the top spot, was never able to track down Rice as the pair weaved through lapped traffic. … Florence Speedway wrapped up its 2021 season with its annual Fall 50. … Victor Lee claimed $2,000 for winning the American Modified Series feature.
On the move: Kody Evans of Camdon, Ohio, started 15th and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Rice’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsored by Sunesis Construction, Rice Brothers Racing, Extreme Sportswear, Brucebilt Performance, Integra and Valvoline.
Points chase: Trevor Landrum of Erlanger, Ky., captured Florence’s Super Late Model championship.
Current weather: Overcast, 55°F
