Tony Jackson Jr. was triumphant at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday.
What won the race: After scratching from Friday's feature at Lakeside Speedway with engine problems, Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., rebounded with a $7,000 victory in Saturday's eighth annual Ron Jenkins Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway. He grabbed the lead from Kolby Vandenbergh with an inside move on lap 12 and led the rest of the way for his third victory in the last five Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association events.
Quotable: "We had a good race car last night (at Lakeside), we just couldn't capitalize, and we had another good one tonight," Jackson said. "When we talked about how we were going to set up tonight, that's just how we planned on it. So sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't, but it did tonight."
Key notes: Jackson beat Mason Oberkramer to the finish line by 1.535 seconds for his 14th career MLRA triumph. ... The sixth-starting Oberkramer advanced four positions. ... Logan Martin ran as high as second prior to halfway but settled for third. ... Chad Simpson advanced nine positions to place fourth. ... After transferring through a consolation race, Stormy Scott started 17th and finished sixth. ... After leading the first 11 laps from the outside pole, Vandenbergh faded to ninth before bringing out a caution on lap 20. He recovered to finish 12th. ... Billy Moyer Jr. was running third on lap 12 when he retired. ... The feature was slowed by two cautions and lasted 21 minutes, with 18 drivers completing 40 laps. ... The event honored the builder of the original Wheatland Raceway.
On the move: Blair Nothdurft of Renner, S.D., started 21st and finished eighth.
Winner's sponsors: Jackson’s TJR Motorsports Capital Race Car is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and sponsored by Willard Quarries, Lebanon Ready-Mix, Penske Racing Shocks, Gorsuch Performance Solutions and Eibach Springs.
