What won the race: Tenth-starting Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., stormed through the field on Sunday, taking the lead on lap 28 and pacing the final two laps at Randolph County Raceway, winning the second annual Wiener Nationals and $10,000. The victory is the 15th of Jackson's career with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association and he has now won four of the last six tour events.
Quotable: "I messed the heat race up tonight and we wanted to try some stuff since we started so far back there and it was really good," said Jackson. "I just really tried to stay in the mud, I saw Billy (Moyer Jr.) trying to be smooth there … saving his tires, but with these 30's you kind of get used to the characteristics and when my tires got hot I would just go back to the cushion or back down in the mud or something and try to make something happen."
Key notes: Jackson Jr. earned over $17,000 in total with the MLRA this weekend, including his $7,000 win at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday. ... Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., led twice for 19 laps before being overtaken by Jackson and settling for the runner-up position, 1.404 seconds back. ... After passing the most cars in consecutive MLRA races, fourth-starting Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, finished third. ... Polesitter Aaron Marrant of Richmond, Mo., led twice for nine laps before fading to finish fourth. ... In total, there were four lead changes between Jackson Jr., Moyer Jr., and Marrant. ... Twelfth-starting Kolby Vandenbergh advanced six positions and finished sixth. ... Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., worked his way into the top-five before retiring on lap 14, relegating him to finish 23rd. ... Sunday's feature, the MLRA’s sixth visit to the Moberly, Mo.-oval and the finale of their weekend tripleheader, was slowed by one caution and lasted 18 minutes, with 14 drivers completing all 30 laps.
On the move: Dylan Hoover of Mexico, Mo., started 16th and finished ninth.
