What won the race: Polesitter Skip Arp of Georgetown, Tenn., led 50 laps Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway for a $5,000 payday in the third annual Rockin' With The Stars feature. The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer earned his first career Steel Block Bandits Dirt Late Model Challenge Series triumph.
Quotable: "Well thanks to Roger and the whole staff for the new track," Arp said. "They might want to flatten the bottom out just a little bit because it's bottom dominant which is good if you're out front but they've done a heck of a job with it and I think it's gonna be great."
Key notes: Arp's victory marks consecutive first-time winners on the Steel Block Bandits tour and he becomes the 14th winner in 26 series events. ... Jordan Rodabaugh trailed Arp for the entire race, finishing 0.973 of a second back. ... Winner of the inaugural Steel Block Bandits Series stop at Smoky Mountain Mack McCarter advanced four positions and finished third. ... Fellow Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Ronnie Johnson finished fourth. ... Chase King and Jed Emert each gained four spots, finishing eighth and ninth. ... After winning his first Bandits feature last weekend at Sumter Speedway Robbie Emory started 19th and finished 12th. ... Saturday's feature, the third-ever Steel Block Bandits stop at Smoky Mountain, was slowed by only one caution and lasted 17 minutes with 15 drivers completing 50 laps.
On the move: Mack McCarter of Gatlinburg, Tenn., started seventh and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Arp’s Capital Race Car is sponsored by Mark Martin Timber & Farms, Tyler Brothers Farm Equipment Inc., Edwards Plumbing, Stanley Best Heating & Air, Allstar Performance and Vision Wheel.
