Mike Mullen (99) finds his way in the 30-lapper at Angell Park.
What won the race: Polesitter Mike Mullen of Seymour, Wis., led all 30 laps Sunday at Angell Park Speedway for his second Wabam Dirt Kings Tour victory of the season. Mullen earned $1,250 in taking the checkers 1.240 seconds ahead of third-starting Brett Swedberg at the midget-focused track.
Quotable: "We just got this car about a few weeks ago and we've been leading every feature since we had it. Between lapped traffic and just figuring it out, we've lost every one of those so far, which were some big ones. Finally we got a little better here," Mullen said. "I caught lapped traffic ... and they started pulling back away so I know I was fading pretty fast. So I was glad to see the checkered."
Key notes: Mullen won the tour opener at Shawano Speedway; he has six career Dirt Kings victories. ... Brad Mueller, who started outside the front row but slipped out of the top five, retired after 13 laps. He was the lone retiree. ... A single caution slowed the race when Bill Edler spun in turn four on the sixth lap. ... Nine of 14 starters completed 30 laps. ... Kurt Moeller scratched from the scheduled 15-car feature.
On the move: Sawyer Specht of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., started 14th and finished eighth.
