Jesse Stovall races to a $9,000 victory at West Plains.
What won the race: Jesse Stovall of Billings, Mo., picked up a $9,000 Comp Cams Super Late Model Series victory Saturday at Legit Speedway Park, a purse boosted by the late addition of $5,000 by Karl Chevrolet. Stovall overtook polesitter Logan Martin at halfway and survived a restart with five laps remaining to secure the victory as he took the checkers 0.737 seconds ahead of Martin.
Quotable: “After losing two races on the last lap in Louisiana to start the year with the Comp Cams Series, it’s redeeming to get to victory lane here tonight,” Stovall said. “I want to say a special thanks to everyone who put this weekend together and especially the Karl Chevrolet people for adding $5,000 to the winner’s check, spur of the moment. This is a big win for my team and I.”
Key notes: Iowa's Karl Chevrolet added $5,000 to the winner's purse just before heat action, making the race $9,000-to-win. ... The Comp Cams Super Dirt Series wrapped up its weekend doubleheader with $4,000-to-win feature originally scheduled for Friday but postponed by weather. … The victory was Stovall's first Comp Cams Super Late Model Series victory of the season and his 12th career tour victory.
