What won the race: Dylan Knowles of Lanett, Ala., dominated Friday night's Crate Racin' USA Salute to America Nationals, taking advantage of his pole starting spot to score a victory worth $2,500 at Talladega Short Track. He beat Cruz Skinner to the finish line by 0.720 of a second in the 50-lap feature.
Quotable: “This was a tough series to get a win when my dad raced with Crate Racin’ USA, and it’s just as tough with the competition we had here tonight,” said Knowles, whose late father was Scotty Knowles. “Now I’ve got a series trophy to go with my dad’s and that’s something special to pass down to the next generation. When I got of the car after the race, I looked around at who finished behind me, and I was like wow, we used to run around here in the pits as kids watching our dads race!”
