What won the race: Leading from flag-to-flag, Dustin Sorenson of Rochester, Minn., rolled to a $5,000 victory in Friday night's DiscountShoipTowels.com Dirt Kings Tour-sanctioned Firecracker 40 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. He beat Ryan Unzicker to the finish line by 1.098 second for his first-ever triumph on the Wisconsin-based series.
Key notes: Runner-up Unzicker charged from the 13th starting spot to finish behind the pole-starting Sorenson. ... Jake Timm of Winona, Minn., the winner of the first two Dirt Kings events at Mississippi Thunder, settled for third. ... The race was slowed by three cautions; the second was for Jesse Glenz, who was running in second place at the time. ... John Kaanta, who won Thursday's opener of the tour's doubleheader at Mississippi Thunder, finished 12th. ... In a race that lasted 24 minutes, 11 drivers completed all 40 laps.
On the move: Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., started 13th and finished second.
