What won the race: Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., took advantage of Wyatt Scott's misfortune, then held off hard-charging polesitter Max Blair to capture Friday's inaugural Junior Eckert Memorial at Trail-Way Speedway. He earned $6,000 for his third career Zimmer's United Late Model Series victory.
Quotable: “I knew Junior,” Covert said in victory lane. “You always smiled when you were around him. He meant a lot to the racing community. To win that memorial race absolutely ranks among the top five wins in my life. We had to earn it there."
Key notes: Wyatt Scott was out front on lap 26 when he pulled to the infield, handing the lead to Covert; Scott ended up 15th. ... Two late cautions set up Covert-Blair showdowns with Covert hanging on to win by 0.616 seconds at the checkers. ...
