Zack Dohm gets rolling Saturday at Richmond Raceway.
What won the race: Fending off a charging Tyler Carpenter amid lapped-traffic, Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., rolled to his second win in as many nights in the Rain Dodger 50 at Richmond Raceway on Saturday evening. Recording his first career Southern All Star Series victory, Dohm pocketed $5,000 for the flag-to-flag triumph.
Quotable: "I knew Tyler was on me. Nick was showing me they were catching us in lapped traffic," Dohm said in victory lane. "Sometimes it's just your night because the yellow came out right when Tyler was about to roll me in the middle."
Key notes: Third-starting Tyler Carpenter closed in on Dohm in lapped-traffic near the halfway point of the 40-lapper but an untimely caution dropped him back to second. … Justin Rattliff drew the first caution of the race on the sixth lap while Daniel Shelton folded the nose under his car on lap 12, bringing out another yellow. … The Southern All Stars wrapped up its Kentucky doubleheader with a visit to Richmond Raceway for Saturday’s $5,000-to-win Rain Dodger 50. … The tour made its second visit to Richmond’s 3/8-mile oval.
On the move: Derek Fisher of Olympia, Ky., started 12th and finished seventh.
