What won the race: Second-starting Christian Thomas of Wake Forest, N.C., captured Saturday's Fast Unified Engine Late Model Series victory at Fayetteville Motor Speedway, earning $3,000.
Key notes: Thomas earned his second career series victory in outrunning Dean Bowen, who advanced from the 11th starting spot to finish second. ... Fast qualifier and polesitter Michael Batten was 10th at the finish. ... Series points leader Russell Erwin had finished no worse than second in the four previous tour events this season, but he was ninth in Saturday's rundown. ... Dustin Mitchell was Erwin's closest challenge in the title chase entering the night, but he made an early exit from the feature and finished 22nd. ... The Fast Unified Engine Late Model Series made its first appearance of the season at Fayetteville Motor Speedway. … The series was idle due to coronavirus restriction through early June and a June 20 event at Fayetteville was rained out. The track is scheduled to host the series again on Aug. 22.
