What won the race: Turning back challenges from a charging Ray Allen Kulhanek, third-starting Kip Hughes of Enid, Okla., rolled to the $2,000 victory in Saturday night’s Western Swing finale at Route 66 Motor Speedway. Finishing ahead of Kulhanek and Nate Jantz, Hughes tallied his 16th career Sooner Late Model Series win in the event that was co-sanctioned with the Southern Touring Late Model Series.
Key notes: The drivers of the Sooner Late Model Series and the Southern Touring Late Model Series headed for Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, on Saturday for the second leg of co-sanctioned doubleheader weekend. … The two tours competed together at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas on Friday, where Patrik Daniel of Wills Point, Texas, held off Kip Hughes and Hayden Ross for victory.
