James Giossi earned $5,000 for Saturday’s victory at Cedar Lake.
What won the race: Storming to the front from his fourth starting spot on the very first lpa, fourth-starting James Giossi of Roberts, Wis., grabbed the $4,000 victory Saturday at Cedar Lake Raceway. Giossi took the checkers ahead of sixth-starting Darrell Nelson and eighth-starting A.J. Diemel.
Quotable: “The car was pretty good. We didn’t really change much from the heat race to the feature,” Giossi said in victory lane. “We were just kind of watching the track and knew it would come around to what we liked, and it all worked out there."
Key notes: Giossi earned his third victory of the season at Cedar Lake. ... The winner utilized a Tim's Automotive Machine powerplant from his father's car. ... Second-running Jesse Glenz was closing in on Giossi late in the race, but he jumped the cushion in turn two and hit the wall; he retired in 19th.. ... Polesitter Dan Ebert slipped back to finish sixth. ... In coordination with Mississippi Thunder Raceway, Cedar Lake's action included $5,000-to-win events for the Late Model and modified divisions. ... Third-place Late Model finisher A.J. Diemel of Elk Mound, Wis., won the 30-lap modified feature.
