What won the race: J.C. Waller of Arlington, Tenn., won his first All Star Racing Series race of the season, topping Christopher Showah and Nathan Brown for a $1,500 victory in a hastily scheduled race for the Crate Late Model tour at Mississippi’s Crossroads MotorPark Speedway on Saturday.
Key notes: Waller was an unlikely winner after heading to the emergency room on Saturday morning with a kidney stone. He reported via his Facebook page after his win that, “I still have a kidney stone floating around inside of me.” … Waller became the tour’s eight different winner in eight races this season. … When Saturday’s All Star Racing Series race at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., was rained out, the Crate Late Model tour quickly shifted directions and added the $1,500-to-win event at Crossroads Crossroads MotorPark Speedway. … It was the fifth time Crossroads has hosted the series this season. … Ashley Newman of Ripley, Tenn., who won at Crossroads on July 4, was an early exit and finished 14th. ... Waller joins Christian Hanger, Matt Cooper, Newman and Brandon Carpenter, who each have a win at the Corinth, Miss., oval this season.
Winner's sponsors: Waller’s Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Waller Heating & Air, Beaver Maintenance & Construction, Continental Cleaners, Terrison Brothers Sheet Metal and O.H. Hendricks.
