Dona Marcoullier heads for a $5,000 payday at Tri-City Motor Speedway.
What won the race: Continuing his career-best season, Dona Marcoullier of Houghton Lake, Mich., rallied from the eighth starting spot to win Friday's Allstar Performance Challenge presented by American Ethanol feature at Tri-City Motor Speedway as the Tri-City-Merritt Speedway miniseries kicked off a three-race Labor Day weekend. Marcoullier topped 10th-starting Travis Stemler of Ionia, Mich., in earning $5,000 for his third special event victory in less than a month at the 3/8-mile oval.
Key notes: Marcoullier earned his ninth overall victory of the season and his seventh at Tri-City. He has earned $18,000 in winnings at Tri-City over the past month with a $3,000 Challenge Series victory on Aug. 14, a $10,000 DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory on Aug. 21 and his $5,000 payday on Friday. ... The Allstar Performance Late Model Challenge Series presented by American Ethanol is a challenge series between Tri-City and Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Mich., that offers a $10,000 payout to the champion. ... The series heads to Merritt on Saturday for a $4,000-to-win event followed by a $10,000-to-win program on Sunday.
