What won the race: Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, Va., led all 50 laps of Saturday's Damn Yankees 50 at Richmond Raceway, collecting $5,000 in the Fastrak Racing Series event for Crate Late Models. Roberson scored the third series victory of his career in holding off a hard-charging Todd Coffman through traffic late in the race.
Quotable: "When we got to a couple laps to go, my dad started signaling me that he was on me and them lapped cars, oh my god, they didn't know where they was going and I was stuck in a pickle and I heard him on the outside and he was beating the wall down," Roberson said. "My dad was just telling me to take up the whole racetrack and hopefully it would pay off for us and luckily enough, I'm blessed enough and it held off and we got lucky."
Key notes: Roberson also won the previous night at Rockcastle Speedway in Mount Vernon, Ky. .. Matt Long of Concord, N.C., finished third and clinched the 2020 FASTRAK Racing Series championship. ... Saturday's feature was slowed by six caution flags and lasted over 30 minutes. ... The Damn Yankees 50 is 2020's richest Crate Late Model race in Kentucky. ... Saturday's event kicks off Fastrak's Breast Cancer Awareness month. ... The full schedule for the month of October will be released in the coming days and drivers who attend all races with a wrap design supporting breast cancer awareness will be eligible for a best appearing car award.
On the move: Last year's race winner Todd Coffman of Junction City, Ky., advanced from 10th starting position and finished second, just a few car lengths behind Roberson.
Winner's sponsors: Roberson’s Rocket Chassis is sponsored by RBS Auto & Trailer Sales, Wynbridge, Pro Fabrication, NAPA, Chase Motorsports Coach & Trailer Sales, Gunter’s Honey, Clary’s Used Cars, Russ King Racing, Bobby’s Towing Service, E-Z-Go, Blue Ridge Treescape Service and Dirt Defender.
