BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Updates and results from the second round of the Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, highlighted by a $10,000-to-win World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series event (results unofficial):

Rained out

Lingering evening rain forced a cancellation of Friday's program. WoO competitors are scheduled to return to action Saturday for a $10,000-to-win event to conclude the Sunshine Nationals.

Pre-race notes

The event is under a weather delay after storms moved over the track beginning just before 6 p.m. ... Volusia Speedway Park's Sunshine Nationals continues Friday evening with four divisions of Late Models in action at the half-mile oval highlighted by a $10,000-to-win event for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series. ... Kyle Bronson’s victory in Thursday’s WoO season opener was his second career series victory. His first win was also at Volusia and came in 2014. … Ricky Weiss got into the turn three wall in hot laps, causing significant damage to the right-rear corner of his race car. The incident was similar to Weiss’s problems in qualifying on Thursday when brake issues caused him to get too hard into turn three on his opening lap and tag the wall. … A number of drivers made engine swaps overnight. Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., and Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., who both saw top-five feature runs fall victim to engine woes, and Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., who broke a motor in Thursday’s hot laps. … After his engine problems in Thursday’s hot laps, Winger recovered to drive Mike Collins’s car to an 11th-place finish in Thursday’s feature. … Ross Bailes’s night one struggles were caused in part by a locked-up right-front brake rotor that forced him to retire from his heat race. After failing to transfer through his consolation race, Bailes used an emergency provisional to start 27th and advanced one spot to finish 26th. … The WoO officiating crew will be without series director Casey Shuman for the remainder of the weekend. He left after Thursday’s race to compete in the Chili Bowl midget race in Tulsa, Okla.
