What won the race: Outside front-row starter Cass Fowler of Woodstock, Ga., led all 20 laps in Friday's 602 Crate Late Model main event at the Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals, earning a $5,000 victory at dirt-covered Bristol Motor Speedway.
Key notes: Fowler set the race's quickest lap time on the 14th circuit, running a lap around the high-banked half-mile oval in 18.022 seconds. ... He crossed the finish line by 5.346 seconds over Dustin Diem of Ellaville, Ga. ... The feature was a battle of attrition with the 40-minute race slowed by five incidents, three resulting in red flags. ... Spencer Singleton of Dalton, Ga., was running inside the top-five before getting upside down on lap 12 and bringing out the second red flag of the evening; he wasn't hurt. ... The biggest wreck occurred on the ensuing restart, when Floridians Trey Mills and Brenden Smith tangled while battling for second. They spun down the backstretch and collected several competitors. ... All drivers were OK, but Mills and Smith were among retirees. ... Six drivers completed 20 laps. ... The feature concluded the week's action for the division with Mills, Singleton and Seth Wimpley winning semifeatures earlier in the week.
