What won the race: Building a sizable advantage late in the race, front-row starter Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., claimed $3,000 in the Zimmer’s United Late Model Southern Series opener at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night. He took the checkers 3.526 seconds ahead of polesitter Michael Norris.
Quotable: “It never gets old coming and racing here,” Satterlee said. “This place is just so good. To start in the middle of the day and have a racetrack that racy, it’s pretty awesome. This place, we raced all over it all night long.”
Key notes: Satterlee captured his seventh career series victory after sliding ahead of early pacesetter Michael Norris on lap 13 on the bottom. It was his 10th career triumph at the half-mile oval. … Norris said he slipped high and damaged his car's right-rear spoiler during his his runner-up outing but still called Satterlee "the class of the field." ...
