Winner Tyler Erb waves atop his car at Richmond Raceway.
What won the race: Second-starting Tyler Erb of New Waverly, Texas, grabbed the lead on the 11th lap Saturday at Richmond Raceway and dominated the final 49 laps to claim his first career Southern All Star victory. Erb, who built leads as large has a half-track, earned $7,500 in the Finn Watson Memorial.
Quotable: "I've heard nothing but bad things about this place and that was one of the funnest feature tracks that I've been on," Erb said. "I could get a better run off of turn three and four there, so I just needed to get close enough through turns one and two. On that caution, I got two chances at it and I kept packing it down and getting it built up I was like man if I show him this line, they'll probably move him up, so I just gave it all we had and got by him there."
Key notes: Polesitter Dustin Linville of Lancaster, Ky., led the first 10 laps before slipped back to finish fourth. ... Former race winner Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., finished third in his father's No. 6T. ... Saturday's feature marked the third Southern All Star appearance at Richmond Raceway for a race slowed by three caution flags. ... Six drivers completed 60 laps. ... Erb's triumph gives the tour 10 winners in as many races thus far in 2021 and he joined four other drivers in collecting their first career SAS series victory this season (Rusty Schlenk, Pearson Lee Williams, Jensen Ford and Payton Freeman).
On the move: Zack Dohm started seventh and finished third.
