What won the race: Taking advantage of a final restart with two circuits remaining, Wyatt Scott of Garland, Pa., overtook race-long pacesetter Dave Hess Jr. and went on to capture Thursday's held-over 30-lap Zimmer's United Late Model Series North Region-sanctioned Jim and Mike Duffy Memorial at McKean County Raceway. The 22-year-old driver beat Hess to the finish line by 0.373 of a second for the $3,000 top prize.
Key notes: Scott registered his second career ULMS victory; his previous score came on June 21, 2020, at Bradford Speedway in Rew, Pa. ... The triumph for Scott — last year's ULMS points runner-up — came less than two weeks after he recorded his first-ever Super Late Model win at Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y. ... Looking for his sixth Late Model triumph since April 17, Hess settled for second place after controlling the first 28 laps from outside the front row. ... ULMS champ Max Blair ran as high as second but finished fifth after losing two spots on the final restart. ... David Scott, the winner's father, retired after six laps and finished 11th. ... The race was postponed on May 20 because of dusty track conditions and added to McKean County's May 27 program that offered free grandstand admission. ... There was originally a separate ULMS event scheduled for May 27, but officials announced that race would be rescheduled. ... McKean County hosted the ULMS tour for the first time since 2018. ... Hess came back later in the program to pocket $2,000 for winning the King of the Hill match race competition. ... On May 20, competition was halted after three laps in the Crate Late Model feature; Jeremy Wonderling emerged victorious when the 25-lapper was completed on Thursday.
