What won the race: Winning a late-race battle after a caution appeared in the waning laps, fourth-starting Shane Edginton of Winnipeg, Manitoba, raced to his fifth career Northern LateModel Racing Association victory in Friday’s Howie Schill Memorial at River Cities Speedway. He earned $1,404.
Key notes: Edginton turned back challenges from outside front-row starter Brad Seng after Seng shot out to an early lead. … Series point leader Mike Greseth of Harwood, N.D., joined the battle late and eventually nosed into lead but the pass was negated after a caution was displayed. He finished 12th. … River Cities hosted the inaugural Howie Schill Memorial, honoring the longtime series regular who passed away in December 2020. A three-time NLRA winner, the West Fargo, N.D., driver was the series’ first-ever feature winner at the Victory Lane Speedway in Winnipeg in 1998 and won the first River Cities points title in ’99. … The race paid $404 to start with second place paying $1,044 and third earning $904. … has four series wins this season. … The tour’s event at Red River Valley Speedway in August will also honor Schill.
