What won the race: Outrunning Friday’s winner at Boyd’s Speedway, polesitter Chase King of Seymour, Tenn., led 40 laps in recording his second career Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series victory Saturday at Mountain View Raceway. Leading a parade of cars in the low groove, King finished 0.452 seconds ahead of Donald McIntosh to claim $4,000.
Quotable: "This is by far the biggest race that we've won," King said. "If you'd have seen this (car) this morning. I mean, it was still in a million pieces and we were all talking about staying home or going to play golf. But I'm glad that we chose the latter and everything worked out perfect. Fast all day, you really couldn't ask for anything any better."
Key notes: Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., grabbed the runner-up spot from Heath Hindman of Signal Mountain, Tenn., with four laps remaining. … McIntosh tried to make the high groove work late but couldn't catch King. ... Ahnna Parkhurst of Evans, Ga., took the fifth position from Decherd, Tenn.’s Jadon Frame on lap 38. ... Cautions appeared for an Addison Cardwell flat tire (lap four), a David Payne spin (lap 33) and Ruben Mayfield's contact with the backstretch fence (lap 34). ... The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series made its first-ever visit to Mountain View Raceway. … It was the second night of the tour’s tripleheader weekend, which opened up Friday at Boyd’s Speedway (with Donald McIntosh winning) and continues Sunday at Tazewell Speedway.
On the move: Perry Delaney of Sparta, Tenn., started 16th and finished 11th.
Winner's sponsors: King’s Stinger Race Car is powered by a B&B Performance Race Engine and carries sponsorship from King Machine and Welding, Jason Lewis Automotive, Crawlers Edge, Go Lithium, Schaeffer’s Oil and Stinger Race Cars.
