What won the race: Defending his home turf, Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, Fla., overtook Wil Herrington for the lead on lap 40 and marched on to capture Sunday's postponed 50-lap Crate Racin' USA Winter Shootout finale at East Bay Racewy Park. The veteran standout beat Cody Overton to the finish line by 1.583 seconds for the $5,000 top prize in the 604 Crate Late Model event.
Key notes: Nosbisch pulled away in the closing circuits, leaving Herrington to battle for second with Overton. ... Overton, driving his Jeff Mathews-owned car, passed Herrington for the runner-up spot coming to the white flag. ... Herrington settled for a third-place finish after leading laps 3-39. ... Teenager Trey Bayne led laps 1-2 off the pole position but slipped to ninth in the finishing order. ... Garrett Mosley started 18th and finished fourth. ... The feature was postponed to Sunday afternoon after rain struck East Bay on Saturday. ... East Bay's Speedweeks action continues Feb. 7-12 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Winternationals.
On the move: Tyler Bare of Rockbridge Baths, Va., started 28th and finished 10th.
Winner's sponsors: Nosbisch's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Adams Auto Parts, I-image Skincare, DeLand Truck Center and The Car Store.
Points chase: After East Bay Saturday: 1. Cory Hedgecock (416); 2. Jason Welshan (380); 3. Jody Knowles (370); 4. Nevin Gainey (320); 5. Jamie Burford (302).
