Colton Trouille in victory lane Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway.
What won the race: Colton Trouille of Lake Park, Ga., banked a career-high payday in winning Saturday's 20-lap 602 Late Model feature, part of the Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals. He finished 3.735 seconds ahead of Cody Courtney.
Quotable: “We came here last year and just had horrible luck,” said Trouille. “This year we didn’t really have any bad luck. The track was good all week and the car was good all week. We’ve just had a great week.”
Key notes: Trouille, who used to race motocross, said that “big races are pretty normal, but (Bristol) is a big stage.” ... Cody Courtney of Knoxville, Tenn., trailed Trouille all 20 laps and claimed the runner-up position, 3.735 seconds back. ... Only six cars started the feature. ... Cass Fowler crashed on lap 12. He was the only starter who failed to finish. ... The week's preliminary feature winners were Trouille (twice) and Courtney. .... The division, added to the program a few weeks ago, saw a huge dropoff in car count from last year’s inaugural Bristol Dirt Nationals. The 2021 car count topped 60 but fewer than 10 cars entered any of the three preliminary nights in 2022. ... Saturday's feature was slowed by the only incident involving Fowler and lasted less than 10 minutes.
On the move: Tucker Anderson of Blairsville, Ga., started fifth and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Trouille’s Barry Wright Race Car carries sponsorship from Chaney Custom Homes, Trouille Construction, James Warren Associates, Mike Riley, Akins, Fussel Tires, Super Heat Solutions and Penske.
