Zack Mitchell heads to victory Saturday at Lake View.
What won the race: Leading from flag-to-flag off the pole, Zack Mitchell of Enoree, S.C., won Saturday's Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model Series-sanctioned Easter Egg 40 at Lake View Motor Speedway. The $5,000 victory came by 0.741 of a second over Ben Watkins and was the second of the weekend for Mitchell, who also captured Friday's tour stop at Carolina Speedway.
Quotable: “We just had a really good, balanced race car this past week or two,” Mitchell said. “Ben’s a heck of a race car driver, but I just knew as long as I kept it around the bottom and didn’t let it push or anything, I figured I’d be good.”
Key notes: Mitchell's back-to-back triumphs gave him 11 career Ultimate Southeast win, moving him into a tie for third on the tour's all-time victory list with Brandon Overton. ... Watkins grabbed second on the first lap and ran several car lengths behind Mitchell for the entire distance. ... Christian Thomas and Carson Ferguson each utilized a lap-28 restart to advance one position and finished third and fourth, respectively. … After winning at Lake View in 2019, Dennis Franklin finished 10th. ...
