Texas driver Kaden Honeycutt earned his richest dirt victory.
What won the race: Taking the lead on lap 15 when race-long leader Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., suffered mechanical problems, Kaden Honeycutt of Aledo, Texas, paced the final 45 laps and cruised to win Saturday's Cotton Tail 60 604 Crate Late Model feature at Golden Isles Speedway. He beat Dillon Brown of Gaffney, S.C., by 1.949 seconds for the $10,000 top prize.
Key notes: An 18-year-old Texan who splits his time between dirt and asphalt competition, Honeycutt was victorious one week after finishing 34th in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Martinsville, Va. ... After leading the first 14 laps from the pole, Whitener was unable to continue and relegated to finishing 18th. ... After inheriting second place on lap 51, Brown claimed the runner-up position behind Honeycutt. ... Ninth-starting Wil Herrington finished third. ... Cody Overton retired while running second on lap 50 and finished ninth. ... After running inside the top-five for the first 31 laps, Ty Giles suffered mechanical problems and finished 11th. ... Saturday's feature, presented by Whitener's Tractor Service, Jett Concrete Works and Erb Longhorn Ranch, was slowed by seven separate incidents and lasted 47 minutes with four competitors completing all 60 laps.
On the move: Colton Trouille of Lake Park, Ga., started 22nd and finished fourth, earning the $500 hard charger award.
Winner's sponsors: Honeycutt's Jett Motorsports No. 40 is sponsored by Strange Oval and Brembo Brakes.
