Hayden Cardwell grabbed a victory at Lake Cumberland.
What won the race: Leading all 45 laps from the pole, Hayden Cardwell of Knoxville, Tenn., executed a perfect night at Lake Cumberland Speedway, winning Saturday's Spring Showdown feature to earn his second victory of the season with the American All-Star Series presented by PPM and $3,000. He also set fast time and won the dash.
Quotable: “I seen my crew guy (showing) I had a pretty decent lead there, but I didn’t want to see the caution with two to go,” Cardwell said. “We just had to make sure we had a good restart.”
Key notes: Cardwell's second straight American All-Star Series victory came in his first career start at Lake Cumberland and moved him into the tour's points lead. ... Making his first-ever series start, Steve Peeden of Martinsville, Ind., finished second. ... The Crate Late Model series made its debut at Lake Cumberland Speedway. ... It was the track's season opener and the third race on the tour. ... A series event the night preceding the Lake Cumberland event, at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky., was quietly removed from the scheduled.
