What won the race: Eli Beets of Knoxville, Tenn., made his first career Super Late Model victory a big one, earning a career-high $7,500 in Saturday’s Valvoline Iron-Man Racing Series event at Lake Cumberland Speedway. Beets, who started outside the front row, won the 40-lapper by 1.257 seconds ahead of Michael Chilton.

Key notes: The event marked the first Super Late Model action of the season at the 3/8-mile oval. ... Lake Cumberland rebounded after May 6's unconfirmed tornado that caused significant damage to the infield concession building, bleachers, track sign, ticket buildings, several utility poles, new lighting and portable toilets. No one was injured. ... Promoter Brandon Hardgrove and others went to work for repairs and replacements to host Saturday's $7,500-to-win event.
