Max Blair takes the checkers for his $10,000 Bloomsburg victory.
What won the race: Outside front-row starter Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., opened a three-race weekend in his home state Thursday with a $10,000 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series victory at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway. Blair, 3-for-3 at the track over two seasons, led all 40 laps and took the checkers comfortably ahead of seventh-starting Dennis Erb Jr., the series points leader.
Quotable: "It was very different track conditions tonight than what we had last year," Blair said. "But you know, being familiar with this place when nobody else really was, that was big. ... It was a lot of fun. We're 3-for-3 at Bloomsburg, which is really cool. And I'm pretty excited to come back."
Key notes: Blair won twice at Bloomsburg last season on the Zimmer's United Late Model Series. ... Josh Richards scored his second straight third-place finish. ... Eleven drivers completed a rough-and-tumble, caution-plagued 40-lapper. ... New track record-holder Ryan Gustin was running third in the final laps when his engine gave up (he'd made an overnight drive from his hometown Marshalltown Speedway after a fourth-place finish in Castrol FloRacing Night in America action). ... Gregg Satterlee spun out of the top-five twice, first on the fourth lap and later on the 21st lap. ... Ryan Montgomery hit the turn-one wall at halfway in his Suppa Racing ride and retired. ... Polesitter Jeff Rine blew a tire and crunched the turn-two wall on the eighth lap. ... Dan Stone and Mike Lupfer tangled in turn four for a lap-six caution. ... Bryan Bernheisel was an early retiree with engine problems discovered prior to the main event. ... In a shuffle of series drivers, 2015 WoO champ Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., is returning to the tour after a two-year absence, replacing Skyline Motorsports teammate Tyler Bruening (See DirtWire).
On the move: Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., started 11th and finished third.
