What won the race: Second-starting Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., led all 50 laps from his outside-front-row starting position, winning Saturday's Salute to America Nationals feature at Talladega Short Track. He topped the Crate Racin' USA field to earn $5,000.
Key notes: Moving into second place on a lap-31 restart, Logan Palmer of Acworth, Ga., grabbed a runner-up finish. ... Polesitter Jake Knowles finished third. ... Defending Crate Racin' USA champion Jimmy Thomas finished ninth after losing the points lead to Welshan on Friday. ... After winning Friday's $2,000 weekend opener at Moulton Speedway, Seth McCormack retired on lap 26 at Talladega and finished 18th. ... Retiring on lap seven while running inside the top five, Austin Horton was credited with finishing 20th. ... Saturday's feature, the second of two holiday weekend series events in Alabama for the tour, was slowed by two cautions and lasted 23 minutes; 14 competitors completed all 50 laps. ...
