Logan Martin gets up to speed at Old No. 1 Speedway.
What won the race: Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., took the lead for good on lap 13 and paced the final 28 circuits, including a late-race restart, in capturing Saturday's Cow Patty 40 feature at Old No. 1 Speedway. The $5,000 victory is the 10th of Martin's career with the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series.
Quotable: “My stick guy, he’s sitting there giving me a good lead. I’m comfortable. We’re in lapped traffic, or approaching lapped traffic, and I’m counting down the laps in my head and you see that (caution) come out with two to go, and your stomach sinks in your chest," Martin said. "Then you’ve gotta make two perfect laps because it puts the field back up on you. Luckily for me, this car was good enough to get it done."
Key notes: Martin joins Wil Herrington, Brian Rickman and Kyle Beard as multitime feature winners in Comp Cams competition, this year. ... After winning at Old No. 1 in April, Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., moved into the second position on lap 32 and finished there, 1.595 seconds back. ... After running as high as second place in the early laps, B.J. Robinson of Bossier City, La., faded and finished fourth. ... Comp Cams Super Dirt Series point leader Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., finished sixth. ... After leading laps four through 12, Dane Dacus of Arlington, Tenn., retired while running second on lap 15, relegating him to finish 15th. ... Tyler Stevens of Searcy, Ark., and Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., both failed to finish their heat races and completed only a handful of laps in the feature, finishing 20th and 22nd, respectively. ... Saturday's feature, the tour’s second and final appearance at the quarter-mile oval this year, was slowed by seven cautions and lasted 42 minutes, with nine competitors completing all 40 laps.
On the move: Mason Oberkramer of Broseley, Mo., started 19th and finished eighth.
