Jason Feger pulled through Thursday at Davenport for his second-ever World of Outlaws victory.
What won the race: Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., emerged victorious in Thursday's Quad Cities 150 opener at Davenport Speedway with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, overcoming two of the quarter-mile’s successful drivers in Bobby Pierce and Devin Moran. Feger, who led led 34 of 40 laps, edged Pierce by 0.180 of a second for the $10,000 paycheck.
Quotable: "Bobby (Pierce), it's hard to say he's the best here. It's either Bobby or Devin (Moran). They're both really good. Man, I felt like I had a flat tire the last couple laps. I'm sure it was going down ... and what's weird about this place is it's hard on tires,” Feger said. “It’s hard to know how to manage them. I was out front and I was like, I'm going to give it all I got. ... We got it done. It feels great."
Key notes: Thursday marked Jason Feger's second career World of Outlaws victory. The Midwest stalwart first won with the WoO in May 2009 at Wisconsin's Charter Raceway Park. ... Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, lost the lead with six laps to go with a flat right-rear tire. Moran had a three-second lead prior to his demise. ... Ashton Winger of Senoia, Ga., started from the pole but never led a lap. ... Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., lowered the track record with a lap of 13.207 seconds, topping Moran's previous record of 13.333 seconds set in July in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series action. ... Thursday's WoO feature lasted 29 minutes and was slowed by four stoppages. ... WoO's program is duplicated on Friday before Saturday's $30,000-to-win, 70-lap finale. ... Hoker Trucking is the event's presenting sponsor.
On the move: Tanner English of Benton, Ky., started 10th and finished third.
Winner's sponsors: Feger’s Longhorn Chassis has a Pro Power engine with sponsorship from Titan Industries, Hoker Trucking, Floyd’s Waste Systems, Digital Copy Systems, RLM Enterprises, Rosser Battery, Remtek Enterprises, Speedwerx, Cheap Cars and Griffin Signs.
Points chase: After Davenport Thursday: 1. Dennis Erb Jr. (4,346); 2. Tanner English (4,198); 3. Max Blair (4,148); 4. Ryan Gustin (3,994); 5. Brent Larson (3,896); 6. Josh Richards (3,828); 7. Gordy Gundaker (3,818); 8. Boom Briggs (3,670); 9. Shane Clanton (2,956); 10. Tyler Bruening (2,644).
