Don Shaw led all the way for his 14th career NLRA victory.
What won the race: Grabbing the lead on the first lap from his third starting spot, Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., led all the way Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway for his 14th career Northern LateModel Racing Association victory. Shaw collected $1,200 in taking the checkers 1.863 seconds ahead of runner-up Jason Strand.
Quotable: “I kind of paced myself after I got in the lead there, to the point of where I kind of waited until I heard somebody behind me” Shaw said. “I knew tonight it would be hard for somebody to pass so I just kind of went as hard as I could because I knew we’d catch the lapped traffic sooner than later. And that’s when the mud and stuff goes on the front end of your car and everywhere else and makes your car not work as good. … I heard (Jason Strand) back there roaring around a couple of times, and I was kind of like, ‘All right, I need to kinda maybe get up on the wheel a little harder here for a while.’ Once we got into lapped traffic and I got a little more aggressive I felt I was fine."
Key notes: Shaw notched his first NLRA victory since July 29, 2021, at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. ...
