Brian Rickman heads to victory in Friday's first 20-lap feature.
What won the race: Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., led all 20 laps from the pole, winning Friday's first $2,500 semifeature at Whynot Motorsports Park in the opening night of the 28th annual Coors Light Fall Classic. Rickman was challenged heavily by Spencer Hughes while navigating lapped traffic in the closing laps before the two made contact, allowing Rickman to prevail.
Key notes: Seeking his first Super Late Model victory of the season, Hughes made contact with an infield tire at the exit of turn four and finished 0.600 of a second back at his home track. ... Jeremy Shaw and David Breazeale each advanced three positions, finishing third and fourth. ... Rick Rickman spun on the first lap and collided with multiple drivers, sustaining heavy damage. He completed six laps before pulling off and finishing 18th. ... Friday's first semifeature was slowed by the one opening-lap caution and lasted eight minutes, with 11 competitors completing all 20 laps. ... MERIDIAN, Miss. (Oct. 21) — Updates from Friday’s first 20-lap, $2,500-to-win semi-feature for the 28th annual Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot Motorsports Park, which features a $12,000-to-win main event for Super Late Models on Saturday (results unofficial):

First prelim feature

Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., led all 20 laps from the pole, winning Friday's first $2,500 semifeature at Whynot Motorsports Park in the opening night of the two-day 28th annual Coors Light Fall Classic. Rickman was challenged heavily by Spencer Hughes while navigating lapped traffic in the closing laps before the two made contact, allowing Rickman to prevail. Hughes, of Meridian, dogged Rickman to the checkers, but settled for second, while Millport, Ala.'s Jeremy Shaw improved three spots to finish third.

Seventh-starting David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., was fourth after running as high as second on laps 7-10 and Dean Carpenter of Coldwater, Miss., marched from 11th to fifth.

Friday's preliminary feature results will be used to set the starting lineup for Saturday's 60-lap, $12,000-to-win main event. Both Rickman and Hughes will start from the pole position of their respective heats.
