Rick Eckert hoists the checkered flag Saturday night at Georgetown.
What won the race: Rick Eckert of York, Pa., led all but two of 40 laps on his way to the $7,000 Mid-Atlantic Championship victory on Saturday at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway. Eckert, who started from the pole, topped hometown racer Amanda Robinson by 4.730 seconds.
Quotable: "Thursday, we had a car good enough to win. I just didn't do my job early in the night," Eckert said. "The car was way better tonight. We just made a couple little changes. The preferred line was that top, but I could really run that bottom if I needed to. I was just worried about hurting tires, so I just ran easy through the middle-top like everybody else did, then I'd move down and slide them on entry. I could get in the corner really well."
Key notes: The only laps Eckert failed to lead on Saturday were laps one and three, which were both led by outside polesitter Trevor Collins, who eventually finished sixth. ... Overall fast qualifier Mark Pettyjohn of Milton, Del., started third and finished fifth. ... After winning one of the two qualifiers on Friday, Amanda Robinson started sixth and finished second in Saturday's 40-lap feature. ... The Super Late Model event was part of the most lucrative three-day event in Delaware dirt-track racing history as a total purse of $182,715 was distributed throughout the busy weekend at the Georgetown half-mile. … Hometown driver Matt Hill was the victor of Friday's 20-lap, $1,000-to-win RUSH Late Model feature, while another hometown racer Ross Robinson won Thursday's $5,500 Camp Barnes Benefit for unsanctioned Super Late Models. ... Saturday's 40-lap Super Late Model featured lasted 22 minutes with nine of 19 cars finishing on the lead lap.
On the move: Michael Lake of Uniontown, Pa., started eighth and finished third.
