What won the race: Taking the lead with an outside move exiting turn two, second-starting Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., led the final 44 laps at Swainsboro Raceway in capturing Friday's $10,053 Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals season opener. Overton notched his second consecutive Spring Nationals series victory at Swainsboro and the eighth of his career. It is his fourth feature win of the young season.
Key notes: Sam Seawright led the first nine laps from the pole before being overtaken by Overton and finishing 0.755 of a second back. ... After trading third place multiple times Mike Marlar rounded-out the podium with modified standout Ethan Dotson settling for fourth. ... Defending Spring Nationals champion Carson Ferguson finished fifth. ... Friday's feature was slowed by five cautions, the largest being a six-car pileup on a lap-nine restart attempt. Joshua Bishop and Ross Bailes recovered to finish eighth and ninth, while Kenny Collins and John Henderson continued before retiring early and finishing 15th and 16th. Haiden Cowan and Parker Martin were unable to continue, finishing 19th and 20th. ... Friday's Spring Nationals season opener lasted 32 minutes with 10 competitors completing 53 laps. … The event was the first at Swainsboro under the ownership of J.J. and Dana Williams, who purchased the track from Paul Purvis in January. ... Technical difficulties prevented the event from being shown live on FloRacing.
