Garrett Alberson celebrates on the roof of his car after winning Saturday's Ronny Adams Memorial finale at Boothill Speedway.
What won the race: Wrestling away the lead from race-long pacesetter Billy Moyer with five laps remaining, fifth-starting Garrett Alberson of Las Cruces, N.M., rolled to the $10,000 victory in Saturday’s Ronny Adams Memorial finale at Boothill Speedway. He took the checkers 3.1 seconds ahead of Moyer in the 40-lap feature sanctioned by the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series.
Quotable: “I was a little worried that the track was gonna be a little bit bottom-dominant, but you could really move around a lot more than I thought,” Alberson said. “It was just kind of like positioning yourself. That was really fun.”
Key notes: The win was Alberson's fourth with the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series. … Moyer hugged the bottom lane to lead the race's first 34 laps but couldn't hold off Alberson's high-side bids. ... Kyle Beard was running a contending third on lap 31 when he dropped too low in turns three and four and spun; a caution flag flew but he never stopped, blended back into the field in sixth place and went on to finish seventh. ... Brett Frazier of Vivian, La., was forced to forfeit the pole after suffering mechanical issues during the pace laps. … Defending CCSDS champion Brian Rickman of Columbus, Miss., finished 13th. … The fourth annual Ronny Adams Memorial began Friday with World of Outlaws rookie Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., winning the $5,000 opener after a last-lap scrape with Neal Baggett of Columbus, Miss.
On the move: B.J. Robinson of Bossier City, La., started 18th and finished third.
