Diemel of Elk Mound, Wis., overtook pole-starting Jesse Glenz on the 11th lap and led the rest of Friday’s opener on the Wabam Dirt Kings Tour. Diemel earned $3,007 in taking the checkers 0.828 of a second ahead of 12th-starting Nick Anvelink.
