What won the race: Winning Red Cedar Speedway's Tom Steuding Memorial for the second straight year, A.J. Diemel of Elk Mound, Wis., overtook pole-starting Jesse Glenz on the 11th lap and led the rest of Friday’s opener on the Wabam Dirt Kings Tour. Diemel earned $3,007 in taking the checkers 0.828 of a second ahead of 12th-starting Nick Anvelink.
Key notes: Diemel has three career Dirt Kings victories. Besides two Red Cedar triumphs, he won at Shawano Speedway in 2018 on the Wisconsin-based tour. ... Fourteen of 22 starters completed 30 laps and all but Troy Springborn were running at the finish. ... Early leader Jesse Glenz settled for fourth. ...
